Direct answer

Does Big Walk have multiplayer?

Yes. Multiplayer is the game. Big Walk is designed for online co-op with two to twelve people. There is no complete single-player mode and no public matchmaking. House House intends one group to continue a hand-crafted journey over multiple sessions.

Crossplay is supported across listed platforms

The official FAQ says players on different supported systems can play together. The current platform list is Windows and macOS, PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Cross-platform groups should use a Join Code if platform friends lists do not connect them directly.

How to play with friends

  1. The host starts a session and selects the 2-player, 3-player or 4-plus-player world version.
  2. Same-service friends look for the active game in the friends-game menu on Steam or their console service.
  3. Other players use the Join Code. It appears in the host menu before launch and under Session Details after the world starts.
  4. Add a password if wanted. The host can change it during play under Session Details.
  5. Resume later with the same host. When the host leaves, every connected player is disconnected and the host's save remains the continuation point.
The Mac App Store version does not use Game Center for the friends-game list, according to the official FAQ. Use a Join Code for that version.

Does every player need to own a copy?

The official FAQ and storefronts checked on August 5, 2026 do not advertise a Friend Pass, guest copy or “one owner invites the whole party” feature. Until House House publishes a different rule, every participant should plan to use a licensed copy on their own supported device.

Steam Family Sharing and Nintendo family-group lending are storefront license features, but their presence does not prove simultaneous group play from one purchased copy. Check the current license screen on the platform before organizing purchases.

Console online requirements

  • PS5: the PlayStation Store states that PS Plus is required for online play. The game was included in a time-limited PlayStation Plus offer when checked.
  • Switch 2: Nintendo's product page states that Nintendo Switch Online is required for online play.
  • PC and Mac: the official pages require online connectivity; no separate console-style subscription is listed.

Connection and voice troubleshooting

Friend's game is missing
Add the host on the platform friends service or request a fresh Join Code. Join Codes change when a new host session begins.
Everyone is jittering
Check the host's connection and frame rate first. Close network-heavy apps, move closer to Wi-Fi or use Ethernet, and lower the host's graphics load if needed.
Voice is doubled
Find the open speaker-to-microphone feedback loop by muting players one at a time, then use headphones or mute when not speaking.
A player cannot use voice
Use the built-in text chat. House House says the full game can be played that way without losing the designed communication behavior.
